Canonical India Positions Itself As a Cloud Partner in India

Spread the love

With India on the Indian cloud of becoming a $1 trillion digital economy, leading global cloud providers are positioning themselves in the country. Canonical India, the company behind open source software Ubuntu, for example, is positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for cloud services in India.

However, the company’s local presence also helps it navigate India’s strict data privacy and cybersecurity laws. This is particularly important for companies that deal with personal information and sensitive transactions.

The physical evaluation of seeding impact consists of investigating the microphysical properties of clouds before and after a cloud seeding event using radar and aircraft. To identify candidates, the aircraft made a cloud penetration to investigate LWC at 300 m above the cloud base and looked for updrafts near the cloud base that were > 1.5 ms-1 (see sidebar “Seeding criteria”). If complementary conditions for seeding were identified, a cloud was selected and two flares were burned on each wing for about 4 min while the aircraft took a circular flight track below the candidate cloud. Then, the cloud was either seeded or left unseeded based on the random decision of the CAIPEEX IV randomized experiment (see Supplement D1).

The results from this assessment are shown in Figure 5. The vertical profiles for average maximum values over several cloud penetrations show that the cloud width, LWC, CDNC, and CDP MVD increase from the low level to the freezing level, where they peak. These increases result from collision and coalescence of small droplets, then from ice-phase processes such as riming, deposition, and aggregation.
